I am told that Milk thistle has estrogenic properties.  I believe in the herb and have used it.  However, I have stage 3 metastatic breast cancer which is positive for estrogen and progesterone and I have to stay away from estrogen in particular.  I am therefore not taking ANY milk thistle at all anymore.  Please provide me with all the details on Milk thistle and hormone positive breast cancer.  Many thanks Maureen

The following is a list of all chemical constituents from Dr. Duke's Phytochemical and Ethnobotanical Databases.  Keep in mind that most milk thistle extract is seed and fruit only.  I've isolated the seed constituents in greater detail on another page in our forum, Milk Thistle Chemical Constituents.  I am not aware of any estrogenic properties in Milk Thistle seed, but in our blend you will find Red Clover, which is a phyto-estrogen.  We do have available a single Milk Thistle extract that does not have Red Clover.  You can call for details.  Let us know if you have any more questions.  Oh, and if you search this forum, there are at least 6 posts with studies related to breast cancer already posted.  Again, let us know if you need any more information, or if we can help in any other way.
