Hi Margaret,
Thank you for your question.  Unfortunately I can not diagnose you or your grand daughter via the internet.  I can, however, tell you that in my clinic I have seen Milk Thistle aid in lowering Cholesterol slightly, and have had great results when combined with Chinese Herbs.  If the slight yellow in your eyes is caused from minor Jaundice, there is a possibility that Milk Thistle might help, but it is not usually my first herb of choice to deal with Jaundice.  It surely will not hurt, however, and could be a great start.  The best direction might be to consult with your Doctor, and give it a go.  I have not read any information about Milk Thistle helping people loose weight except for the fact that it will aid in the secretion of bile, thus helping you eliminate more effectively.

About your grand daughter.  Milk Thistle may be a great help, but it depends on the type of skin disorder.  I would avoid steroid creams at that age, and seek out a local alternative health care physician that has had experience with childhood skin disorders.  In Traditional Chinese Medicine there is a correlation between the Skin and the Lungs.  Often times if we try and suppress a disorder in one, the other is affected.  This is why a holistic approach is needed and I would look locally.  Children heal very quickly if shown the proper direction.  If you would like to have a phone consultation (including dietary and cleansing information) with my wife Carrie, who personally worked through the worse case of eczema I have seen to date, she will be back (with me) from Cambodia / Thailand on the 20th of March.  Our practice number is 303 - 859 - 7652.
